Title deeds drive on the road to Silver Town

19 July 2023

The City’s Human Settlements’ Title Deeds Roadshow is progressing well as it makes its way across Khayelitsha. Today,19 July 2023, the City helped residents with the deeds to their homes in Silver Town. The City will continue to assist more residents across the metro in the weeks and months to come.

‘I am so pleased to see the excellent progress our Title Deeds Roadshow is making in Khayelitsha. We have assisted hundreds of residents with their title deeds in Mandela Park, Kuyasa, Makhaza, Nonkqubela and now in Silver Town. We are helping historic beneficiaries and residents of newer RDP projects who are now able to collect their title deeds from the City.

‘The Khayelitsha portion of the roadshow will be coming to an end soon and we again urge beneficiaries to come forward to claim their title deeds. A title deed is so much more than a piece of paper. It will assist residents in formalising their home ownership as well as provide them with security of tenure.

‘We have assisted hundreds of residents in Khayelitsha over recent weeks and we thank the Human Settlements officials for their hard work. We look forward to assisting many more residents in other areas in the near future. We will keep all eligible residents updated and for further information about when we’ll be reaching their area, residents are encouraged to please reach out to the Human Settlements’ Directorate directly,’ said Alderman James Vos, Acting Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements.

Since 2013, the City has transferred more than 12 000 properties in historic developments, resulting in title deeds being issued to beneficiaries across the metro.
